Improving Health
The Community Health Improvement Network (CHIN) facilitates collaboration among community and provider partners to create joint programs and cooperative ventures that improve and sustain health care access and quality delivery, especially for underserved and underprivileged populations.
Projects and Programs
The program of work was developed by TMI’s start-up board and leadership, as facilitated by Dr. Mack Portera, then president of Mississippi State University, and Mr. Dwight Evans, then president of Mississippi Power Company.
Special Programs/Events
TMI’s special events have included creative economy forums in Alabama and Mississippi, music festivals to build the creative economy and provide economic opportunities to musical artists and songwriters, website and social media workshops and economic development workshops for entrepreneurs and businesses, K-12 arts integration programs in Head Start Centers and city and county schools in East Mississippi/West Alabama. CHIN’s lunch and learn events educate and inform the public about serious health issues, the importance of health screenings, and to have open discussions about health in general.
