| Overview: | TMI partners with area development organizations, universities, community and junior colleges, and local communities to identify manufacturing workforce needs and opportunities for the region. We then work with these and other partners to develop programs and attract resources to address needs and provide opportunities, such as the program below. |

| Funding: | The Walmart Foundation is the lead grantor with two organizations providing matching grants and four colleges providing matching funds. 1) $400,000 from the Walmart Foundation; 2) $155,000 from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (WIA); 3) $50,000 from the National Institute for Rural Community Colleges at Mississippi State University; 4) $25,000 each in matching funds from training partners East Central Community College, East Mississippi Community College, Jones County Junior College, and Meridian Community College. |
| Purpose: | This project seeks to build on the systemic accomplishments of the West Alabama-East Mississippi WIRED Initiative to extend the benefits of useful training in a timely manner to dislocated workers, out-of-school young people, and eligible members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and to place them into advanced manufacturing jobs. (See grant proposal for details.) |
